Specialties

Generalists »

I primarily focus my business downtown, in neighborhoods such as TriBeCa, SoHo, Chelsea and the Village. My sales range from around $1 Million to $10 Million, and in my career, I've sold roughly $100 million of Manhattan real estate.

Loft specialists »

I am an expert at selling lofts because this is what I've always focused on. Most of the inventory in the neighborhoods in which I specialize such as TriBeCa and SoHo, are lofts and this is where I work most frequently. I've learned to recognize what separates certain types of lofts from others, and I understand and appreciate the history behind these great buildings and neighborhoods. That is the true talent.

Penthouse specialists »

With my vast experience buying and selling penthouse units in Downtown Manhattan, as well as currently owning one myself, I've learned to find the highlights and top qualities of penthouse-living. Whether it's the views, the outdoor space or just the allure of being on the top floor, penthouses hold so many amazing characteristics which set them apart from a traditional apartment.

High-profile clients »

I have had the great experience of working with several celebrities over the years. I understand their need for privacy and also their focus on top quality. I treat all of my customers to a chauffeured car and take care of all their needs while in my care.

Our summary of
Timothy Melzer

"Tim is always calm and collected. He is highly regarded by his peers and clients. Tim has a quiet nature, but is a major force in the Downtown real estate market. Due to his strong work ethic, he seems to know the details about virtually every Downtown listing. As a resident of SoHo, there are few agents who know the neighborhood better. When marketing an apartment for sale, he is particularly creative and aggressive. Tim also personally invests in Manhattan real estate."

I first worked with Timothy in the spring of 2001 when he had just started as an agent. His firm recommended that I work with him to list my home as a rental property, and even though he was new to the industry when we met, he was already very professional and well-spoken. I could tell he was extremely intelligent, and I was happy to work with him. We didn't see any results with my apartment for the first few months, and I began to get nervous. I asked Timothy to change his tactics and expressed to him that I really needed to find a tenant. He stepped up his game overnight. Within days, we had potential tenants coming in for viewings, and shortly after, we found one who wanted to sign on a lease. Timothy's transformation as a broker impressed me so much that I still use him today, eight years later. I always recommend him to others, and I really couldn't be happier with the agent he's become.

In a word, working with Tim was easy. He really offered a full-service experience. When I bought with Tim, he narrowed down his listings to find me apartments that fit my criteria perfectly. He didn't waste any time with properties I wasn't interested in, and I really appreciated that. Also, he was accommodating to my time schedule, and he always made sure to set up appointments when I was free. When he could, he would line them up one after another so I could get everything done in a day rather than spread throughout the week. On the selling side, Tim did absolutely everything. The only work I did was to show up on time for appointments, so that process was exceptionally relaxed for me. I would definitely recommend Tim to my friends or family. He understands that his clients have busy schedules, and he works around that wonderfully.
“I wish I had one negative thing to say about Tim in order to make my experiences with him sound more realistic, but in the five years we've worked together, we've never had an unsuccessful transaction.”

In the five years I've known and worked with Tim, I've never had an unsuccessful transaction with him. We've never once had to reduce our asking price, because Tim's marketing has been flawless in attracting the types of buyers I've been looking for. I own and rent a number of properties in Manhattan, and I continue to use Tim for his work ethic, honesty, and attention to detail. When the market started to turn, Tim really proved himself. He was able to improvise in order to overcome the challenges of a weak market, and he still achieved outstanding results with two of my properties in Tribeca. I found this to be extraordinary. I would absolutely recommend Tim to other investors or homeowners. I wish I had one bad thing to say about him in order to make this seem more realistic, but I have had no bad experiences working with him during our professional relationship.
“Tim has a great way with people, and his personality allows him to establish strong relationships with other agents and clients involved in any deal.”

Tim is one of the most honest realtors I've worked with. I've gone through a number of others, some of which I liked quite a bit, but there's something different about working with Tim. He really let me take my time in finding my home - we looked for two years - and he never pushed me. He was more than happy to work at my relaxed pace, and I really appreciated that. During the purchase itself, Tim was exceptional at connecting with everyone involved in the deal. He has a great way with people, and his personality allowed him to establish strong, friendly relationships with the other agents involved. In fact, we've become friends since working together. I have highly recommended Tim to my friends. He's a very good realtor, and I personally have come back to him a number of times.
“I worked with Tim to buy a co-op loft in Soho. He is level-headed, efficient and pleasant.”

Tim helped me buy a co-op loft in Soho. He was exceptionally knowledgeable about the downtown market, neighborhood comparables, and the availability of properties that met my criteria. His advice on pricing and negotiation was extremely helpful and his level-headed professionalism made the process efficient and pleasant. I would recommend Tim without hesitation.
“Timothy commits himself to every aspect of a real estate sale.”

I recommend Tim very highly. He was truly instrumental in the quick sale of our apartment, and he did it at a great price. Prior to meeting Tim, we had tried another agent who wasn't able to sell our apartment, even though the market was better at the time. Tim discussed with us how he wanted to price the apartment, and we immediately found him to be energetic, enthusiastic, and confident. Tim had nurtured relationships with potential buyers of apartments our size and in our location, so when we went on the market, he contacted them and we had an offer before our first open house, just days after listing the property. In the end, Tim sold our property within 10% of what he estimated (higher, I might add) and we then put him to work to help us find our new home, which we have just closed on, at a great price and location.
“Tim's intensity and expertise saved me from an extremely dangerous financial situation. I find his services to be invaluable.”

Tim was highly recommended to me as someone who was an expert in downtown Manhattan. I wanted to purchase a second home in the city, and Tim showed me a number of places over the course of a year. Once I purchased the property, a number of problems arose, and Tim really bailed me out of all of them. There were complications regarding my desire to rent the space out to a tenant while I wasn't living there, and Tim was excellent in negotiating my side of the argument so that I was able to find a tenant. Shortly thereafter, the economy collapsed, and I realized I had to sell the space. Tim saved me from near bankruptcy by finding me a seller. He's extremely good at what he does, and he works with the intensity you'd expect from a Manhattan businessman. I think his vigor could overwhelm buyers who want a more relaxed, hand-holding experience, but for someone who is ready to work quickly and get results, Tim's perfect. One of the things I've learned in my field of work is that you have to stay two or three steps ahead so that you never come across a rude surprise. Tim was remarkable at staying ahead of the market, even when it began to delve into conditions very few realtors have seen. This turned out to be invaluable for me. Tim was able to foresee a number of obstacles and warn me of them days in advance. I think that Tim's level of engagement is a direct reflection of his involvement in the industry and his understanding of the market, the players, and the financial aspects of real estate. I have recommended Tim to others, and I'll continue to highly recommend him to anyone who asks. I plan to return to the city once the market recovers, and I will definitely be calling Tim to help me find a home.
