Specialties

Generalists »

Our practice is devoted to representing properties for sale on behalf of our clients. We excel in representing artist's lofts, both cooperatives and condominiums, as well as conversions. We bring a sophisticated comprehension of real estate and legal history to every deal we represent, as well as highly developed marketing, staging and styling skills honed over decades in art, advertising and design.

New condos specialists »

We are licensed as development sales people and have worked with developers in forming the plans to be filed with the New York State Attorney General for condo conversions and construction. We have a working relationship with many architects, designers and developers and with whom we have collaborated on many projects. We also bring this expertise to existing co-ops and condos and have advised many boards. We uniquely brand each condo we represent to best position it in the market and generate the highest sales price possible.

Art collectors »

We are both graduates of Cornell University's College of Architecture Art and Planning. Further, Ginnie comes from a highly acclaimed background in fine art, advertising and production, and design, so we understand the unique real estate needs of art collectors.

Loft specialists »

We originally became involved in New York real estate because of our expertise in lofts -- we were involved in lobbying for the original legislation that legalized them. Artists and other loft dwellers sought us out to help legalize and sell their spaces. We are familiar with all of the history, attorneys and landmark considerations that surround this fascinating property type.

Penthouse specialists »

We have designed, planned, filed and implemented the creation and sale of penthouse properties in downtown Manhattan and in landmark settings. We have longstanding relationships with landscapers and garden suppliers as well as construction managers and expeditors, not to mention architects and roofers. Nothing is simple in Manhattan, especially penthouses.

Agent's personal statement

Together, we comprise one of Halstead's most successful and effective sales teams. Consistently ranked among the top brokers in all Halstead in completed sales, we focus specialize in representing Manhattan's premier downtown properties as well as 'boutique lofts' and 'special properties.' We place a broad array of services at every buyer's or seller's disposal, be it legal, design, construction or architectural resources.

Our experience has taught us that one of the most important services to bring to our sellers is to shape the availability and perception of their property in such a way as to maximize their sale price and minimize the stress and trauma that can come from an undisciplined sales plan. There is really nothing complicated about real estate. It is about protecting the interests of your client and understanding their needs and the demands of the current market environment.

“Jon and Ginnie are hands-down the most knowledgeable brokers I've worked with in terms of the properties they represent.”

As a real estate attorney, I've worked with Jon and Ginnie on upwards of fifty transactions in the last seven or eight years. Working with them is fantastic. They are hands-down the most knowledgeable brokers I've worked with in terms of the properties their clients are selling and purchasing, and they represent their clients incredibly well. Their willingness to share any information they have makes each deal go smoothly. When Jon and Ginnie represent a new developer or sponsor, they find out just about everything there is to know about the new building. If there's something they don't know, they research it immediately to stay well-informed and be able to provide their clients with any information necessary. Jon in particular is always a remarkable resource of accurate, up-to-date information. In addition to their knowledge, Jon and Ginnie's responsiveness and overall intelligence are also outstanding. I would recommend them to friends and colleagues without question.
“Jon and Ginnie are highly skilled in screening qualified buyers, as well as marketing and negotiating properties.”

Working with Jon and Ginnie was an absolute pleasure. Their knowledge of the market and comprehensive understanding of the real estate landscape in New York made for a quick sale. They were highly skilled in screening serious and qualified buyers, and their marketing campaign made our property stand out in a very busy market. Their exacting negotiation skills made for a smooth close and a final amount that was above our asking price. Hiring Jon and Ginnie was one of the best moves we have ever made in real estate.
“Ginnie and Jon were an effective conduit between the co-op Boards I worked with.”

Ginnie and Jon were outstanding. They were extremely attentive and helpful, both during the sale of my uptown home and the purchase of my downtown residence. Both properties that Ginnie and Jon helped me with were co-ops, and they were in constant contact with the Boards of both buildings to ensure that each transaction went smoothly. Their attentiveness to detail was a key factor in the success and timing of both transactions. Ginnie and Jon were always in touch with me, as well. I was routinely updated on the progress of each transaction. I highly recommend Ginnie and Jon, and they would be the first agents I called if I ever decided to sell my apartment and look again. I don't foresee that happening, though, because I love the space they found for me, and I'm very happy with it.
“Once Jon and Ginnie took over the sale of my apartment, the difference between them and other agents I'd worked with was immediately clear.”

I love real esate, especially in Manhattan, so I've worked with a lot of agents. Working with Jon and Ginnie was a mind-blowing experience. I had been working with another agent to sell my Flatiron apartment, and was extremely disappointed by the quality of service I was receiving. Once Jon and Ginnie took over, the difference was immediately noticeable. I would highly recommend them to anyone who wants to sell a property in Manhattan. With Jon and Ginnie, I got two great brokers for the price of one. Collectively, they knew everything about real estate in the city - they're true connoisseurs of the industry. They immediately put an ad for my apartment on the Times website, and they were always pleasant yet very aggressive with their marketing campaign. Once we found a few potential buyers, they were on top of sending cordial e-mails to make sure the deal continued to move forward. In addition, they remained completely responsive and attentive to me, with contant updates, so I was very pleased. Even after our first buyer backed out due to the stock market crash, Jon and Ginnie's persistence allowed us to find another buyer very quickly and sell my apartment with board approval.
“Ginnie and Jon were extremely helpful - they were communicative, open to discussions, and altogether straightforward with the sale of my apartment.”

Ginnie and Jon were terrific with the sale of my apartment. From the start, they were very helpful in terms of advising us with respect to how to handle the sale. We discussed what we could do to change the look of the space in order to make it more appealing, and they managed our expectations by providing us with straightforward, honest predictions of what may or may not happen during the sale. We also discussed strategies regarding how to market and price the space. Ginnie and Jon gave us their opinions, but they were always willing to explore a hypothetical situation and talk with us about it, which we really appreciated. Once we identified a few prospective buyers, Ginnie and Jon were good at coordinating with the other brokers and the potential buyers we had found. They kept the lines of communication open between all parties, which was extremely helpful. After working with Ginnie and Jon, I recommended them to a number of people in our building who were looking to sell, and I would highly recommend them again to anyone who asked.
“Ginnie and Jon have tapped in to the niche of downtown lofts - with a different agent, I don't think our deal would've gone through.”

Before I found Ginnie and Jon, I had tried to sell my downtown loft through another broker, and we had to take it off the market. Because of this, I knew the problems associated with selling this type of property, so I wanted to find a broker who was also aware of these problems and had worked through them before. Ginnie and Jon came highly recommended to me from someone who had just sold a similar property with them, and I knew that sale would've been difficult, so I contacted them. They made a very detailed presentation of what they thought they could sell the space for, and they kept to their strategy throughout the sale. They completely immersed themselves in the sale, kept one or two steps ahead of any complications - which occurred at nearly every step of the process - and were able to handle every challenge along the way. In the end, they sold my property for more than they had originally estimated. I highly recommend Ginnie and Jon to anyone, especially those looking to deal in downtown lofts. I feel that it would be difficult to find agents better informed or more capable of handling the complexities of downtown real estate transactions. They always behaved calmly and professionally while keeping a tight focus on the sale. I would consider my experience with them to be very positive.

Working with Ginnie and Jon was a very positive experience. I was very impressed by their knowledge and understanding of the market and their ability to sell my apartment. They knew the value of my space in relation to other properties in the area, and they had a good understanding of the trends within the real estate industry. They were very aggressive with their marketing, and their organization allowed them to achieve great results for me. I have recommended Ginnie and Jon to a friend who also had great results working with them. They're outstanding brokers, and I'd continue to recommend them to others.

Jon and Ginnie are certifiably geniuses. Our loft, a raw fifth-floor walk up, had previously been on the market with another prominent Manhattan company for five months (that is, until we terminated our six month agreement with them early.) We were really disillusioned. The market had crashed, home sales were way down, and no one seemed to want a walk up. Miraculously we found Jon and Ginnie and were immediately impressed. When we met them, their approach to selling our loft turned conventional real-estate wisdom on its head, and was so astonishingly creative that we enlisted them right away. Here's the amazing part: Jon and Ginnie brought us three sold offers within three weeks of the listing going live. We accepted one without even having to counter. During the process of the sale, Jon and Ginnie discovered that the building did not even exist in the minds of the lending banks, because none of the original owners in the co-op had ever sold. The building was not on the "lending list," so to speak, which would have been an enormous problem; however, thanks to Jon and Ginnie's tremendous knowledge of banks, appraisers, and sundry other building mysteries, they were able to add our building to the list. This is but one example of the many problems they headed off in the sale, due to the nature of the quirky old co-op. Their knowledge of all facets of the NY real estate market is utterly comprehensive. I think they both have genuine photographic memories. They listen, they look, they see, and they understand. They never forget anything, and it appears that they can fix any situation with the greatest aplomb. Is it strange to say that we consider them friends now? We really loved working with Jon and Ginnie.
