I would call myself an expert on properties located on the Upper West Side. When I started in the business I made a concentrated focus on Riverside Drive -- in fact Barbara Corcoran crowned me "The King of Riverside Drive." My primary market in the past has been homes that are five rooms and up and townhouses. I sold my first townhouse in 1990, and since then I have sold enough townhouses that I was given the title of Townhouse Director for the West Side office.

I sold my first townhouse in 1990, and since then I have sold enough townhouses that I was given the title of Townhouse Director for the West Side office. Townhouses are a small, special, and unique segment of the Manhattan Real Estate market which offer owners their own individual piece of New York. In addition to privacy, Townhouses boast a huge amount of space, special charm, outdoor areas, and often a piece of New York history. In my career, I have had the privilege of representing sellers and buyers in more than 30 townhouse transactions. I've enjoyed the chance to give "recommendations" on how to best restore a wreck for optimal marketability as well as sell magnificently finished homes. I thrive on discovering the beauty in each of these wonderful houses.

“Keeping it personal” best describes my commitment to my clients and customers. As the industry has ballooned and large sub-teams have developed within the community, I have made a conscious decision to maintain a boutique approach to my business. The reason is simple: I want to get to know each of my buyers and sellers personally. I am proud to say that when a client hires me to do a job, it is me they will be getting.

 

Home is very important to me. For most people, their home is their largest asset and often, their most personal possession. That is why I don’t think of myself as selling real estate but rather matching people with homes. I have had the privilege of matching people with homes since 1988 and I always consider it a tremendous honor to be asked by a seller to represent their property or by a buyer to help them locate their “dream home.”

 

A large portion of my business is on the Upper West Side. When I began my career, I made a decision to specialize in the sale of properties on Riverside Drive. I wrote and distributed a Riverside Drive Market Availability Report, and did so much business there that Barbara Corcoran christened me “The King of Riverside Drive.” In 1990, I sold my first townhouse and now I am Corcoran’s West Side Townhouse Director.

 

On a personal level, I love to partake of the diversity that New York has to offer - the people, museums, food and theater. Each neighborhood's distinct differences fascinates me. But, my favorite thing to do is to prepare a fine meal to enjoy with friends or family.

Alan helped us to both buy and sell homes on the Upper West Side when my family needed a larger home. I do not have anything negative to say about him. Alan understood exactly what we were looking for. He was determined to find us the perfect place, which he ultimately did. Although Alan was persistent, he was not intrusive. My experience working with Alan was very pleasant, most of all because he was respectful of my property. We knew each other already since we both lived in the same building on the Upper West Side and I was aware of the apartments that he had already sold. Alan is a professional who knows how to market a unit to display the best attributes of the space. The first official open house was on a Sunday and by Monday evening I received a call from Alan. The next morning as we were reviewing the details of the offer together, I felt that he was as excited as I was. My wife and I have bought and sold through Alan on multiple occassions. Alan is one of the most trustworthy and hardworking people I have ever met. Throughout the years I've worked with Alan, I have always known that I have an exceptional person representing me. He works extremely hard. Alan really thinks of everything. When we were selling, he pushed us to do things we thought to be unpleasant such as painting walls, moving furniture, and putting items in storage. He was absolutely right to insist upon these tasks. Alan is by far the best agent I have worked with. I met Alan when he was the selling agent for an apartment I was buying. I realized his good work, and later decided to use him. He helped me to sell my new apartment and to buy a townhouse on the Upper West Side. Alan actually likes New York apartments personally, so real estate is clearly his calling. He is well versed in different neighborhoods and who’s who. He is particularly knowledgeable about the Upper West Side, although he truly knows all of New York. If I ever need to buy or sell a home again, it will be with Alan.
